Elijah Canlas, Richard Gomez clash in ‘Salvageland’
Gearing up for another notable role in Philippine cinema, multi-awarded actor Elijah Canlas is part of Rein Entertainment’s upcoming film slate for “Salvageland.”
According to reports from Deadline, the “High Street” actor will star alongside veteran actor Richard Gomez in “Salvageland,” a gripping tale of moral conflict and family tension within the police force.
Directed by Lino Cayetano, the film is said to be a “neo-western” set in the gritty world of law enforcement.
In the upcoming film, the actor-singer plays an “idealistic young police officer” who clashes with his father, portrayed by Gomez, a hardened veteran of the force.
The film’s narrative explores the generational divide in their approaches to law and order, as well as the deep-seated issues of integrity and duty.
As stated by Deadline, the son’s values are tested when he finds himself protecting a woman from an abusive gang leader, a situation that forces father and son to confront their differences.
Production for the film is set to begin in late 2025 with a promise of intense, character-driven story that tackles complex themes.
Rein Entertainment, known for its previous work on the acclaimed series “The Bagman,” is also launching the crime drama series “Drug War: A Conspiracy of Silence,” alongside “Salvageland,” as part of its new lineup. These projects were introduced at the Busan Asian Contents and Film Market (ACFM), where the production house aims to showcase Filipino content on a global scale.
The role marks yet another milestone in Canlas’ rapidly rising career. More than acting, Canlas is also venturing into hip-hop “jeepney” music, where he recently dropped his latest R&B song “Loved Song.”
The song is a very personal piece, originally written two years ago as a heartfelt monthsary gift. Canlas has also dropped his first two rap singles “Kilala Kita” and “Asar Talo.”
Moreover, he is set to release his upcoming EP in October.
