SAN FRANCISCOCity officials have announced major updates to the SF311 – the official app for reporting non-emergency issues to the city and county of San Francisco – making it available for the first time in Chinese, Spanish and Filipino.

The new multilingual functionality provides a pathway for Chinese, Spanish and Filipino speakers to quickly and easily request City services, like street cleaning, graffiti removal and sidewalk issues, with just a few taps.

The SF311 app is now available to download for Android and iPhone in Chinese, Spanish, Filipino and English – the four most commonly spoken languages in San Francisco. The app will detect your phone’s language automatically.

The updated app is one way that the City is making services more accessible for immigrants and San Francisco residents with limited English skills. SF311 also provides live assistance over the phone in over 160 languages.

Last year, SF311 received over 800,000 service requests from the San Francisco community. Over half of those requests were submitted self-service online or via the 311 mobile app.

“Now Chinese, Spanish and Filipino users can submit service requests in seconds, upload pictures and get updates in their native language,” said Nancy Alfaro, the director of The City’s 311 Customer Service Center during a press conference Thursday.

SF311 is the customer service center for San Francisco, available 365 days a year for residents, visitors and businesses seeking information or City services.
