Apl.de.Ap, Rex Navarette perform at Fil-Am DNC delegation event
CHICAGO – Apl.de.Ap, Rex Navarette and other Fil-Am celebrities are all set to perform at the Filipino Americans for Harris-Walz (FAFHW) event tonight to celebrate the third day of the Democratic National Convention.
The event, to be held at the Great Lakes Ballroom G at the Marriott Marquis Chicago from 10 p.m. to midnight, will also feature speakers, including FAFHW Midwest Chair Abbey Eusebio and Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist and activist Jose Antonio Vargas.
Nevada State Assemblywoman Erica Mosca will serve as the emcee.
The FAFHW delegation returned to Chicago’s United Center and McCormick Place for Day 3 of the DNC Wednesday.
The more than 40 Fil-Am delegates were led by California Attorney General Rob Bonta and North Carolina State Representative Maria Cervania.
The delegates from across the nation represent states such as California, North Carolina, Wisconsin, Illinois, Virginia and the territories of Guam and Northern Marianas Islands.
“A record number of Filipino American delegates are proudly representing our community from all corners of the nation,” the FAFHW said. “This unprecedented level of participation marks a significant milestone in our ongoing journey toward greater political engagement and representation.”
Vice President Kamala Harris is expected to formally accept the Democratic nomination for president on Thursday, the final night of the convention.
“We’re kicking things off at 10:00 PM in the Great Lakes Ballroom G, right after the DNC Convention. Catch Apl.de.Ap, Rex Navarrete, and DJ Rex on stage,” the FAFHW said in an event announcement.
The Black Eyed Peas founding member has recently joined forces with P-pop Kings SB19 on the single “Ready” and its official music video.
Known for his philanthropy and community involvement, Apl served as grand marshal for the 126th Philippine Independence Day Celebration parade in Carson, Calif. last June.
