Paris 2024 medal winners’ exclusive box: What’s inside?
Winning an Olympic medal is more than just an achievement; it’s a piece of history. For the Philippines, this has been a momentous occasion with three gold medals secured – weightlifter Hidilyn Diaz in Tokyo and gymnast Carlos Yulo with two golds in Paris.
But aside from the medals, which reportedly contain a piece of the famous Eiffel Tower, the podium finishers received a long, slim rectangular box. Yulo, having won two golds, received two of these boxes.
Typically, medalists would receive a stuffed toy of the official Olympic mascot or a bouquet of flowers. However, this year’s Summer Games feature a unique twist, akin to the float parade on the Seine River during the opening ceremonies. This has sparked curiosity about what treasures might be hidden inside the boxes.
In a recent TikTok video with 9.5 million views, Australian Canoe Slalom competitor Jessica Fox revealed the mystery behind these boxes. She unboxed an “athlete edition” of the official 2024 Olympics poster.

“Well, this is it—it’s a poster,” Fox said in the video. “Usually, we get the mascot or flowers, but this time, it’s something a bit more unique, and I think it’s a really cool concept.”
Fox shared the video after a user commented on her gold medal unveiling, asking, “Well done, but what’s in the box?”
As written on the official Olympics website, the box contains the official event poster designed by Paris-based illustrator Ugo Gattoni. Measuring approximately 40 centimeters, the poster was presented to athletes during the awarding ceremony.
Gattoni shared insights into the creation of these posters, which prominently feature the Paris 2024 logo, the Eiffel Tower with a “XXXIII Olympiade” sign and other key venues from the Games. He dedicated nearly 2,000 hours to crafting these posters, which are rich in symbolism and intricate details. The posters aim to capture the energy and spirit of the Paris 2024 Olympics.
“I wanted the poster to convey numerous stories, filled with symbols. There are many small details, each telling its own story,” explained Joachim Roncin, Director of Design for Paris 2024.
