Filipino tennis prodigy Alex Eala is back in action, teaming up once again with France’s Estelle Cascino for an impressive start at the ITF W100 Vitoria-Gasteiz in Spain.

The dynamic pair secured a straight-set victory in their opening round, defeating their opponents, Spain’s Jimena and Carolina Gomez, 6-3, 6-2, and advancing to the quarterfinals of the tournament.

Eala and Cascino showcased their seamless coordination and formidable skills on the court, continuing the momentum they built since their win at the ITF W75 tournament in France on March 24. They had a 77 percent win rate on their first serve and a 73 percent win rate on their second serve, winning 57 points compared to their opponents’ 37.

Their renewed partnership is proving to be as effective as ever, promising a thrilling journey ahead in the competition as they face Czech Republic’s Victoria Bervid and Italy’s Laura Mair.

Eala’s performance is not limited to the doubles circuit. She has recently achieved a new career milestone in the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) singles rankings, climbing to a career-high No. 155. Eala had previously reached No. 157 in May, underscoring her consistent ascent in the rankings.

Her recent exploits at the Wimbledon Championships, where she came agonizingly close to making it to the main draw round, have further solidified her position among the sport’s rising stars. On June 27, Eala faced a challenging match against New Zealand’s Lulu Sun, narrowly losing with a score of 7-6(3), 7-5. Throughout the contest, Eala displayed unwavering determination and skill, but her opponent, ranked No. 123 in the world and seeded 23rd, matched her stride for stride.

As Eala and Cascino look forward to their upcoming matches in the ITF W100 Vitoria-Gasteiz, their journey in Spain promises to be an exciting chapter in what has already been an outstanding year for Eala.
