Martin Nievera to headline the biggest Filipino festival in BC
Concert King Martin Nievera will headline “The Pinoy Festival: Panahon na Para Magsaya,” the biggest Filipino festival in British Columbia, Canada, on June 22.
The all-day event – from 8:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. – is part of the Filipino Heritage Month celebration in Canada. It will feature Filipino food, cultural performances, live music, small business vendors and artisans at the Swangard Stadium in Burnaby, BC.
Event organizers promise a day of spectacular music and vibrant Filipino culture. Admission to this family-friendly event is free.
Dubbed as the Concert King of the Philippines, Nievera has contributed greatly to pop culture, headlining various sold-out local and international concerts. He is a multi-awarded singer-songwriter behind timeless OPM hits, including “Say That You Love Me,” “Ikaw Ang Lahat Sa Akin” and “Maging Sino Ka Man.”
He is one of the original hosts of the longest-running musical variety show, ABS CBN’s “ASAP.”
Nievera has recently shared that he wants to collaborate with the new generation of artists and is gearing up for his 42nd anniversary concert at the Araneta Coliseum and the “ASAP Natin ‘To” in California.
“Pinoy Festival: Panahon na para Magsaya” is organized by the Pinoy Festival Alliance and the Mabuhay House Society, the organization working with the provincial government to build the Filipino cultural center in cooperation with more than 70 local Filipino Canadian organizations
A “Pinoy Festival” preview was held last week at Burnaby Civic Square in Burnaby, BC, featuring a grand Santacruzan and mini-cultural performances.
The Santacruzan, highlighting Filipino heritage and faith, featured beautifully adorned sagalas (muses) and consorts.
The “Pinoy Festival” is more than just a celebration. It showcases the rich Filipino heritage, fostering unity and pride among the Filipino Canadian community, organizers said.
The event is free and open to the public. Visit pinoyfestival.ca for more info.
