Gone are the days of manually searching Twitter.com to access the familiar blue-bird app. In a monumental shift marking the end of an era, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter has officially transitioned its website address from Twitter.com to X.com.

This change is the latest in a series of rebranding efforts initiated by billionaire tech mogul Elon Musk, who acquired the platform in 2022 and renamed it simply “X.”

Musk announced the completion of this transition with a minimalist post on the platform, stating, “All core systems are now on X.com,” on May 17.

This final step follows a name and logo change in 2023, where the iconic blue bird of Twitter was replaced, signaling a new direction for the platform.

The platform’s landing page has undergone a redesign to reflect the new branding. While users can still access the social media site through the old URL, they will now be redirected to X.com. Despite the rebranding, Musk’s vision for an “everything app” drives this change, aiming to expand the platform’s capabilities beyond traditional social networking.

With all the changes, the platform assures users that data privacy and protection remain a top priority.

For many, the rebranding from Twitter to X marks the end of an era. Twitter, once celebrated for its unique culture and influence on global conversations, now takes on a new identity under Musk’s ambitious plans. The move has sparked mixed reactions, with some mourning the loss of the original platform while others are intrigued by the potential of Musk’s “everything app.”

As the digital landscape evolves, the rebranded X continues to adapt and grow, leaving its Twitter roots behind while aiming to carve out a new path in the world of social media. However, despite the company’s claims of increased engagement, Sensor Tower data indicates that X’s active users dropped by 15 percent to 174 million as of February this year.
