A blend of youth empowerment and Filipino culture is happening at the Pinoys on Parliament (POP) Youth Leadership Conference in Canada where cultural renaissance meets the dynamic energy of the Filipino Canadian youth.

This year, POP24 is happening in Ottawa from Feb. 23 to 25, 2024 with a theme that brings nostalgia and the feeling of home — “Laro.”

Transforming your inner child traumas into healing, this three-day youth conference will not just answer the question, “what does it mean to be a Filipino?” but also “what does it mean uniquely to you?”

The youth-led Kabangka is the brains behind this event, now in its 6th year offering a landscape for more than a hundred Fil-Canadian youths to kindle their passions and forge meaningful connections.

Attendees will gather nuggets of wisdom from the masters of excellence themselves. From the newly appointed minister Rechie Valdez to the first Filipino Canadian to the parliament Dr. Rey Pagtakhan and Senator Dr. Gigi Osler, it’s a lineup that spells inspiration.

Furthermore, the stellar guest line-up also includes Canada’s Drag Race star Kyne and the youngest woman to be elected as legislative assistant for Health, Seniors and Long-term Care, Jelynn Dela Cruz.

Also part of the panel of speakers is award-winning educator and anthropologist Dr. Kevin Chavez Laxamana and an advocate for Sustainable Development Goals Qijel Mariano — and other notable achievers in their respective fields.
