BGYO plays ‘Patintero’ in Canada
Remember those carefree days of playing “Patintero” on the streets? Well, imagine taking that childhood joy and bringing it to Canada! That’s exactly what P-pop sensation BGYO did in their latest venture.
Known as the “Aces of P-pop,” the quintet from ABS-CBN—JL, Akira, Gelo, Mikki and Nate—recently released their comeback single, named after the classic Filipino street game, on Feb. 9, just days after celebrating their third anniversary.
As a gratitude to the ongoing success of the single, they took their “Patintero – Tuliro” dance challenge version all the way to Canada. The TikTok video captured the Grammy-featured artists dancing to the youthful beat amid the North American country’s scenic backdrops.

Their caption read, “Isang kabog na #BGYO_PatinteroDC Tuliro version in #Canada dahil kabog na 2MILLION views na kami sa #BGYO_Patintero MV on YouTube and 100K monthly listeners sa Spotify!”
BGYO’s Mikki, JL, and Nate playfully commented on the video, with Mikki jokingly asking, “What country is this?” and JL admiring the Canadian landscapes, “WOWWWW GANDA NG VIEW!!!!”
The Filipino group’s Canadian adventure isn’t new as they made their Toronto debut during the 1MX Music Festival last September. And considering the timeframe when they shot this, we can imagine they’ve been preparing for this single for quite a while.

Composed by Julius James “Jumbo” De Belen and John Michael Conchada of FlipMusic, the upbeat and refreshing track talks about life as a game, much like “Patintero,” with several obstacles.
As BGYO’s leader Gelo wisely said in one of their past interviews, it’s not about winning or losing, but rather about enjoying the game to the fullest and learning from mistakes.
With over two million views on YouTube just nine days after its release and more than 220K streams on Spotify, “Patintero” has been making waves in the music scene. The track even climbed to #55 on iTunes Canada Pop Chart and topped iTunes charts in various countries including Saudi Arabia, Hong Kong, Singapore and UAE.
