Fans received the news on TikTok. In a video with Apple Music, SZA sat down to treat fans to a quick Q&A session. “Yeah,” she instantly answered after getting asked about possibly brewing something with the multi-genre band. “Soon, soon, it’s in the works.”

While this confirmation made people excited, it isn’t exactly something fans didn’t see coming. After all, rock icon Hayley Williams and the “Snooze” hitmaker have openly been showing love for each other’s craft.

In fact, a 2023 Los Angeles Times article revealed that SZA “texted a clip” of her track “F2F”—which lies in pop-punk territory—to the 35-year-old artist. “I was like, ‘Does this suck? Because you actually do this for a living,’” the “Kill Bill” singer said. “She said, ‘This is great!’”

During the Paramore frontwoman’s “Black People Love Paramore” podcast appearance in the same year, as reported by People, Williams revealed that she’s been down to work with SZA “for a long time.”

“I love her voice,” she said. “SZA for about six years now has been the one. I’m sending the texts weekly at this point.”

In 2022, SZA replied to a fan on X asking when the two of them will join forces: “I talk to her more than you’d think lol.”

And if you managed to witness it in 2018, Paramore also performed SZA’s 2017 track “20 Something” as a mash-up with “Grow Up,” a track off the band’s well-loved discography. “Literally slap me,” the singer-songwriter quipped in response.

With a recent social media overhaul and a new release, Paramore seems to be cooking up a new era. Meanwhile, fans are gearing up for the arrival of SZA’s “Lana” album.
