Jed Madela, Sheryn Regis and Jona to celebrate Valentine’s with fans in US
SAN FRANCISCO – As anticipation builds for their upcoming Valentine’s shows in the US, Jed Madela, Sheryn Regis and Jona have shared love songs that resonate with their personal journeys and the legacy they want to leave behind.
In a recent media huddle, the trio shared their thoughts about performing for their fans in the US.
Regis, who is based in the US, said performing for Filipinos and Americans in various states have given her “so much joy.”
Regis admitted getting bored and feeling sad when she first came to the US.
“When I started singing and performing and traveling…to perform for Filipinos in America, I said ‘oh my gosh,’ it (gave) me hope that I can be happy here in the US,” she said.
“Every time I performed, (I felt) like I was in a Filipino gathering. I was never lonely and it gave me more life and energy.”
Jona shared that she has performed in the US and other parts of the world numerous times since she started her musical career in 2005.
“I’ve been returning here and it’s always a pleasure talaga whenever I perform, especially for our kababayans,” she said. “I strongly feel their warmth and love nila… like (I am) their long-lost relative when they see me in person. It’s so joyous (to hear) warm greetings telling me, ‘so good to see you.’”
Jona said she always had fun seeing her fans during and after the show. “After the shows, there were chances to really talk and get to know more of each other,” she said. “These are my treasured moments that have contributed to my disposition as an artist.”
Jed Madela echoed Jona’s sentiments. “One thing that I noticed with the audience in the US was also the warmth that Jona felt. They make you feel like a long-lost relative, that when you see each other, they’re very responsive and you become very close,” he recalled.
“One of the things I really like whenever I perform on stage is that the reaction of the people is automatic and you won’t feel left hanging in the air. If you want to shout, they will shout with you. They are very transparent and I guess it’s also because of the connection that The Filipino Channel (has given) us.”
Madela said that when fans see artists on TV “we become part of their life, we become part of their family.”
“When we come to perform for them, we come to visit a family,” he added.
