From the Asia Artist Awards 2023 being held in the Philippines (and Korean artists vibing to P-pop songs) to Filipinos actually debuting as K-pop idols, it only feels right to say that Filipino K-pop fans have been the entertainment gods’ favorite these past few months.

So, thinking that we’ve already hit the peak of Filipino-Korean crossovers is valid—but wrong. Case in point: The recent Saweetie x Ive collaboration.

When “icy girl” meets the “baddies”

You heard it right: Saweetie, the American rapper of Filipino descent, joined forces with K-pop girl group Ive for their first English single. They’re calling it “All Night,” and it’s a reimagination of synth-pop duo Icona Pop’s song of the same title.

It’s the perfect track for those endless nights of partying, dancing, and living life to the fullest. (It also sounds something like TikTok fans would love and make viral challenges for. So, if you’re one to hop on the latest trends, you might want to learn its choreo ASAP.)

“All Night” is filled with contagious energy—like a shot of serotonin straight into the veins. It wraps you up in its infectious rhythm and propels you into a world where the only rule is to forget your responsibilities and have a good time.

Now, let’s talk about Saweetie. The rapper’s laid-back but unapologetic flow complements Ive’s dreamy vocals seamlessly. Her bars add an extra touch of sultry confidence to the already strong-sounding track. As she spits, “We can go all night, we ain’t gotta rush.”

Saweetie’s first K-pop venture

Aside from it being IVE’s first all-English song, “All Night” marks Saweetie’s very first dive into the K-pop world as well. We can’t really say we’ve seen it coming—especially when her previous collaborations were with the likes of Doja Cat, Tyga, H.E.R., and Nissy (among others)—but we’re here for it.

In fact, we want more cross-cultural collaborations. Who knows, Saweetie’s next team-up might be with your favorite K-pop idol. For now, though, we’re soaking in the vibes of “All Night” all night.

P.S. Saweetie is dropping a new single called “Immortal Freestyle” soon, so make sure to stay tuned for it.
