Fil-Am Broadway star Jasmine Forsberg pursues pop with new music collab
No dream is out of reach for Filipino-American Broadway star Jasmine Forsberg.
If her name rings a few bells, then you’ve probably already heard her sing her heart out as Maria Luisa on “Here Lies Love” and Jane Seymour on “Six: The Musical.” Though relatively new to the theater world, Forsberg already bagged major roles in both shows.
Between grand stages and classy closeups, she’s a musical force to be reckoned with whose talent deserves the spotlight across all genres.
After conquering Broadway’s shamelessly vibrant atmosphere, Forsberg is now taking charge of her creative freedom through pop music. On Jan. 12, she lent her vocals to producer and songwriter Luke Williams’ debut single, “Halfway.”

Forsberg shines in this sultry dance track that doubles as a love song for enjoyers of red flags and mixed signals. “Halfway” channels her “main character” energy into lyrics that muse about a relationship on the rocks—quite the switch-up from her usual high-powered anthems on Broadway.
Music lovers and critics alike are well-acquainted with this genre shift and its contrasting nature. Adjusting one’s vocal color from theatrical to effortless can’t be mastered overnight, whether it’s with a seasoned performer or a fresh face like Forsberg. Letting go of Broadway’s rigid and technical performance background requires much learning and unlearning to achieve a recording studio-ready voice. But Forsberg welcomed the unexplored facets of a new pop song with open arms—a challenge she didn’t hesitate to accept.
“So thrilled and grateful to be featured on my dear friend and collaborator [Williams’] debut single, ‘Halfway,’” Forsberg wrote on Instagram. She added that being in the studio with Williams was “an absolute joy” that translated into the recording. Whether she ventures into other genres or sticks to her theatrical roots, she treasures every opportunity to grow as a rising artist.
For Williams, his recent feat with Forsberg is three minutes of pure pop joy. He shared with Broadway World that when it came to the artistic origins behind the single, Pink, Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, and Rihanna came to mind. “I got my start listening to club and dance music out of the 2010s. I wanted to add something [like their songs] to that world.”
“Halfway” marks Forsberg’s first achievement as a recording artist. With a voice and character that both pack a punch, we can’t help but anticipate how she’ll make her mark in pop music just as she did on Broadway.
