With our over 7,000 islands, it’s no wonder the world can’t get enough of the Philippines as a travel destination.

Every year, various lists, publications, and authorities on travel include one or two of our world-class beach locales. This year, Amsterdam-based travel agency Booking.com predicts that Panglao, Bohol will be one of the top trending destinations for travelers looking for truly unique and unforgettable adventures.

Listing 10 under-the-radar locations worldwide, Booking.com based its rankings on a global study involving 27,000 travelers across 33 countries. Leading the list is Beppu in Japan, which boasts the most number of hot springs than any other place in Japan.

Other spots included in the list are Valkenburg in the Netherlands, Vlorë in Albania, Chemnitz in Germany, Rotorua in New Zealand, Cairns in Australia, Buenos Aires in Argentina, Portland in the USA, and Mérida in Mexico.

Booking.com praised Panglao—“a petite tropical gem”—for its glorious white beaches, world-class diving spots, and a plethora of outdoor excursions. Also notable, according to the travel agency, is Panglao’s distinction as the Philippines’ greenest destination.

“This lesser-known treasure is perfect for travelers seeking the laidback wonders of island life while prioritizing ecological responsibility.”
