Filipina business maven shines bright in her entrepreneurial odyssey
Filipinos even abroad excel in their chosen field — a testament to how hardworking we are especially when we set our eyes on our goals just as how Filipina powerhouse Thelma P. Calabio is making waves in the business field.
There may be two Filipino Americans on the road to political success as they run for LA City Council seats, Calabio has her achievements and accolades as an entrepreneur.
Among them is her inclusion in Marquis Who’s Who — an American publisher behind the directories containing biographies of luminaries across various fields.
In addition, her awards from the City Club of Los Angeles, her Woman of Worth award to a NUJP-USA Award are just some of the indicators she’s a creme de la creme of the business world.
With her accomplishments in the business sector, it’s not surprising how she excels as the Founder and President of the Filipino American Press Club of California (FAPCCA) where she orchestrates significant community events, cultural activities and the biennial FAPCCA Media Awards.

Thelma Calabio: CEO of Famegate Group of Companies
Multi-tasking is something Thelma may be very familiar with considering that she’s running a company aside from FAPCCA. As the CEO and founder of Famegate Group of Companies, she’s also the editor in chief of Famegate Magazine.
Before achieving the heights of her success, she had been an expert in finance, tourism and management through Lee Trust Beverly Hills and the British Neurological Research Trust Beverly Hills, Federation of Philippine American Chambers of Commerce and San Beda College Grade School in Manila, Philippines.
Not just a business mogul, she was also once a beacon of knowledge at San Beda College shaping students’ minds as a teacher.
In her LinkedIn account, one recommendation proves her remarkable success. “Thelma is a very successful woman, she considers everyone important and easy to be with, she has a positive outlook and cheerful disposition in life,” said Carmen Ramos.
What’s next for Thelma Calabio? We assume it’s more victories with Famegate, more events for FAPCCA and perhaps more encounters with success.
