Fil-Am hooper Dylan Harper seals the deal with Rutgers University
Earlier this year, Filipino-American basketball player Dylan Harper earned a spot on the Team USA U-19 squad, emerging as one of the top high school recruits in the United States.
This time, the 6-foot-4 combo guard from New Jersey has made a monumental decision in his career, choosing to stay close to home by committing to Rutgers University.
The highly sought-after guard, currently ranked as the No. 2 recruit in the nation for the 2024 class, announced his decision last week, marking a significant moment for Rutgers’ basketball program.
On Instagram, he posted a photo of himself and his Filipina mother, Maria Pizarro-Harper, who also played college ball at the University of New Orleans, with a caption that reads “Glory to the man above. Mama we did it.”

Harper, a 5-star Fil-Am hooper, made the announcement amid fierce competition from basketball powerhouses such as Auburn, Duke, Indiana, and Kansas.
The news was confirmed by ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski on X (formerly Twitter), who reported that the Scarlet Knights secured the commitment of the No. 1 combo guard and the No. 2 overall player in the 247Sports composite rankings.
