This Fil-Canadian journalist has launched her debut fantasy novel
Does her name ring a bell? Filipino-Canadian Rachelle Cruz—a multimedia journalist, TV personality, and producer—has recently entered a new territory of fiction writing. The now-author has recently shared her debut modern fantasy novel “The Golden Heart Locket” on social media.
According to its synopsis, which can be accessed through Friesen Press’ website, Cruz’s fiction book follows the journey of Estella in finding her missing family members and loved ones with the use of a golden heart locket. The story takes place in a post-war setting that began because of a mysterious illness that plagued the world, causing the creation of Nova, a new world order. All those will make Estella’s quest difficult, adding in a few challenges and mysterious creatures she will also face along the way.
Despite Cruz being long known as a TV news correspondent and producer, her debut work has been received with much positivity and appreciation, as she has been sharing sparkling reviews through her social media. Taking to her official Instagram account, Cruz also teased an upcoming book reading event coming up next year. “Hope you all can come for the Q&A,” she wrote.
