Three California cities are the ‘most fun’ in America, study reveals
If you live in California, you don’t have to travel too far to be in one of the “most fun” cities in America.
WalletHub, a personal finance website, released its report on 2023’s Most Fun Cities in America and three California cities landed on the list.
Redefining the epitome of fun, the cities of San Diego, San Francisco and Los Angeles made it to the top 20, according to the report.
Rating over 180 cities, the WalletHub study considered 65 factors, such as restaurant diversity and the number of amusement parks, attractions and sports venues. It scored each city on a 100-point system.
Not a surprise, claiming the top spot is the city that never sleeps – Las Vegas. With a score of 71.38, Sin City isn’t just a parade of glitzy lights, casinos and public drinking spots. It’s also a hub for music entertainment.

“When it comes to activities, Vegas unsurprisingly has the largest number of casinos in the country. But it’s also renowned for its performers, especially when it comes to music,” WalletHub pointed out in their report.

California fun
California isn’t all about sunshine and beaches. As the top state with the largest population of Filipino Americans, it has been a melting pot of vibrant cultures, making it a hub for fun seekers.

San Francisco clinches the 5th spot scoring 53.35 while San Diego secured 16th place with a score of 48.33. Meanwhile, Los Angeles with its slew of holiday events this December is unsurprisingly at 20th place scoring 47.01.
The rankings also reveal that Los Angeles tops the list when it comes to restaurants per capita and the number of attractions but scored lower in festivals per capita, average beer price and playgrounds per capita.
However, while these three California cities are on the top part of the list, one Southern California city was nearly at the bottom ranking at 180th of 182 cities — Oxnard.
