In a social media post, Poarch opened up about the personal journey that inspired ‘Bad Boy.’
“I’ve always had a love and hate relationship with my body since childhood. I’ve felt insecure about parts of myself, have hid my scars with tattoos, and have fallen into the pressure of looking a certain way. I have had moments of feeling good in my skin and other moments of hating myself. After my sexual assault, I felt like I couldn’t look at myself in mirrors, worse of all I felt like a stranger in my body. Now, I’m regaining a sense of myself that I lost, I’m rediscovering myself, and reclaiming my body.”

‘Bad Boy’ follows Poarch’s previous collaborative single, ‘Crush,’ featuring Lauv, released on Sept. 15. She has continued her streak of collaborations, having lent her voice to the recent release of ‘Sweet Venom’ by K-pop group ENHYPEN on Nov. 17.
The multi-talented artist’s ability to transition between solo releases and collaborations underscores her versatility in the ever-evolving music industry.
‘Bad Boy’ offers a glimpse into Poarch’s world, where she explores the complexities of attraction to the enigmatic ‘bad boy.’ The lyrics playfully acknowledge the dichotomy of such relationships, blending vulnerability and celebration in an anthem of self-discovery.
As the song resonates globally, Poarch’s musical expression becomes a relatable narrative of embracing unconventional love.
