Canadians can now take a sip of this world-class Filipino rum
Filipino rum brand Tanduay has forged a strategic partnership with Christopher Stewart Wine & Spirits to enter the Canadian market.
With a distribution footprint covering British Columbia, Alberta, and Saskatchewan, Tanduay looks to strengthen its presence in North America, with plans to secure tenders in Ontario and Quebec.
“Rum doesn’t only come from the Caribbean islands. The Philippines have a long history of rum production and have an ideal climate for excellent rums,” said Tyler MacKenzie, brand manager of Christopher Stewart Wine & Spirits, in a press release.
To mark this milestone, Tanduay held an event at the H Tasting Lounge on Oct. 5 that featured a guest shift from bar leading bar figure Sam Miller.
The celebration also featured an industry masterclass and Blackbox cocktail competition at The Permanent on Oct. 4. A culturally-infused launch party at Lunch Lady, offering Filipino cuisine paired with signature Tanduay cocktails, added a unique touch to the brand’s introduction to Canada.
With Tanduay holding the prestigious title of the World’s Number 1 Rum for six consecutive years, its entry into Canada presents significant growth prospects within the country’s beverage market.
Tanduay Distillers, Inc. has roots in a 19th century distillery in Hagonoy, Bulacan, eventually becoming the distillery in Manila today.
Recognized as the world’s largest rum brand, the renowned company boasts a legacy marked by quality and tradition. Acquired by Lucio Tan’s Twin Ace Holdings Corporation in 1988, Tanduay underwent a transformation, expanding its portfolio to include gin, vodka, brandy, and whiskey.
