Jay R marks 20 years of music with California concert
You tuned into the radio and then you found yourself singing along to classic R&B tracks playing on FM. You heard one of your favorites, “Bakit Pa Ba,” and got excited that you still knew the lyrics of the song up until now.
In 2003, the music industry welcomed a promising new talent as Jay R debuted with the album “Gameface.” Two decades later, the R&B singer has achieved the status of being the reigning “king” of his music genre in the country.
The Filipino-American artist is gearing up to commemorate two decades of musical excellence with California concert “Twenty Up.”
To make this milestone even more special, Jay R has collaborated with Filipino artist Dee Jae Pa’este, known for his murals that beautifully depict Filipino cultural elements in both the Philippines and California. He will be live painting on a grand canvas while Jay R delivers his set, aiming to craft an immersive experience for the audience.
The special art collaboration between the artists is a celebration of their Filipino heritage as they tease that they want to showcase a vivid portrayal of the spirit, colors, and their deep-rooted love for the country. Their creation brings together iconic elements of Filipino culture, including the majestic Philippine eagle, traditional woven textiles, and intricate tattoo patterns.
On his Instagram, the “Ngayo’y Narito” artist shared the news and invited fans to take part in his milestone celebration.
“Come celebrate my 20 year anniversary this Nov. 18 at Garden Amp in Garden Grove. It’s gonna be a fun night of singing along and dancing,” his caption reads.

One of the highlights of the show is the release of five signed poster prints to be awarded to five lucky fans. To participate, fans need to repost the collaborative artwork and tag two friends. The winners of this giveaway will be announced at the concert.

However, the surprises don’t stop there. Jay R and Dee Jae Pa’este have a closely guarded secret project that they will reveal during the concert itself.
