Baguio is 6th most affordable year-end holiday destination in Asia-Pacific

The “Summer Capital of the Philippines” continues to live up to its reputation as one of the go-to cities for holiday getaways without draining your wallet. Baguio City solidified its place as one of the most budget-friendly year-end destinations in the Asia-Pacific region.

According to online travel platform Agoda, the city is ranked among the top 10 cheapest destinations when considering the average room rates for a 10-day stay in 2023.
Notably, the city of pines secured its position with an average room cost of $95 (approximately P5,380), a mere $3 (P170) more expensive than Goa, India’s rates.
Conducted in September, the travel site’s data reveals that Baguio outshines several popular destinations in the region, including Japan’s Nagoya, Taiwan’s Taichung, Australia’s Melbourne, and South Korea’s Busan, in terms of affordability.
Baguio is celebrated for its cool climate, making it an ideal year-end destination especially in a tropical country like the Philippines. Visitors can revel in the city’s natural beauty, with famous attractions like Camp John Hay, Burnham Park, and Mines View Park.

Moreover, the local night market offers a unique and affordable shopping experience. The city is also famous for its strawberries and strawberry taho, a must-try local delicacy.

The top four positions on the list all have room rates under $70 (approximately P3,964). Hat Yai in Thailand claimed the number one spot with room rates as low as $43 (P2,435).
