Another island resort in Palawan has received international recognition, and you may not have come across this secluded gem as frequently.
Banwa Private Island, an all-villa retreat in Northeastern Palawan, has once again been proclaimed as the winner of “Private Island of the Year” by Destination Deluxe.
Destination Deluxe is a luxury travel and wellness platform that has bestowed this award on the private island for the third consecutive year.

Nestled in the country’s last ecological frontier, the island has been a beacon of sustainable luxury since its inception. With its commitment to environmental conservation and exceptional guest experiences, the resort has created a harmonious balance between tourism and eco-consciousness.
“Banwa Private Island’s sought-after exclusivity is enhanced by the marine protected area it sits within. As a result, its marine life and supporting ecosystem are thriving,” Destination Deluxe wrote on the island’s profile.
The resort then took to Instagram to announce the recognition.

Adding to their accolades, the island was also honored with the award for “The Philippines’ Best Beach, Island, or Upcountry Resort” of Travel + Leisure Luxury Awards Asia Pacific 2023 and was included in Robb Report’s inaugural list of “The 50 Greatest Luxury Hotels on Earth.”
