An estimated 3,000 learners and nearly a hundred teachers in 19 schools in Santa Ana, Cagayan were given educational kits to support the continuity of learning after being affected by the recent typhoons.

Earlier this year, Typhoon Egay and Falcon hit the northern part of the Philippines, damaging properties, agriculture, and schools. The devastating impact of typhoons in the country often disrupts the education of young learners, leaving them in need of essential resources.

On Oct. 4, 7,000 educational kits, valued at P500,000, were officially turned over to local schools in the area, ensuring that learning continues in the aftermath of the recent typhoons.

USAID Philippines deputy director Yvette Malcioln stated that the learning materials given are more than just papers that are bound together as “these learning materials represent keys to a world of imagination, knowledge, and endless possibilities.”

The educational kits donated to the learners and the teachers include kindergarten- to grade three-level books and teaching materials. This made Santa Ana Councilor Victoriano Fabro delighted that their municipality was chosen for the assistance.

“We must continue to adapt and be diligent in ensuring that the US-Philippine partnership remains steadfast and unwavering in the face of global uncertainty,” he emphasized.
