San Diego will come alive on Oct. 28 as the Mingei International Museum in Balboa Park reverberates with the melodies of traditional Filipino music.

Presented by the Samahan Filipino American Performing Arts and Education Center, “Struck and Plucked” promises an unforgettable evening of rondalla and kulintang music to offer a glimpse of Filipino culture.

This special event will transport you to the heart of the Philippines through rich melodies and rhythms from traditional Filipino musical ensembles. In particular, two unique Filipino musical traditions will take center stage. Rondalla, with its string instruments, produces melodic harmonies while Kklintang’s mesmerizing rhythms emanate from a set of gongs played with mallets.
