What drives an artist to change their stage name to one that’s unpronounceable? For the Filipino-American multidisciplinary artist and producer known as ((( O ))), it’s about wanting to become unsearchable in the age of the hyper-social and allow herself to focus solely on creating music rather than seeking fame.

The name ((( O ))) symbolizes her energetic presence that audiences can feel in her upcoming album “((( 4 ))).”

Dropping on Aug. 27, “((( 4 )))” is part of a series of 12 albums that ((( O ))) refers to as “sundrops.” Each sundrop consists of 12 audiovisual tracks, referred to as “moondrops.” These sundrops are released every Aug. 27th of the year and the album collection, which debuted in 2019, is scheduled to be completed by 2032.

So far, ((( O ))) has released three singles from “((( 4 )))”: “Sanctuary,” “Don’t Die,” and “Travelin.’” Her Colors Show live performance of “Travelin’” premiered on Aug. 21 and in it she sings about a part of herself that she doesn’t have access to but people have told her “show up in their dreams with a message.”

In “Sanctuary,” ((( O ))) sings about period. No, not period the slang. Period as in the menstrual cycle and the division of time.

“We can actually take advantage of our cycles by tuning into our inner seasons,” she explains in a video. “Period, being the ‘winter’ season, is telling you to stop doing things. Take a break. Listen to the messages while the veil [between you and the spiritual world] is thin.”
