PH’s Bago City team nabs Junior League Softball World Series title
KIRKLAND, Washington — Bago City Little League, representing the Philippines, won the 2023 Junior League Softball World Series in Kirkland, Washington state on Sunday, Aug. 6.
Pitcher Erika Arnaiz, without relief, struck out 15 batters while Ann Dyana Buenafe recorded two RBIs. The teamdefeated Milford, Connecticut, 3-0 in the finals.
Arnaiz’s 85 strikeouts in the tournament made her an instant star and struck fear among opposing batters.

Bago City’s victory ended the Philippines’ 20-year losing streak after Bacolod little leaguers bested Puerto Rico in 2003.
Before the championship-winning match, coach Rolando Fuentes’ Bago City swept both its quarterfinals and semifinals foes at 4-0 over Arizona and Texas, respectively.
