US braces for hottest week with 250M under blistering temperatures

/ 06:58 AM July 25, 2023

Brace yourselves as the US gears up for this year’s hottest week. More than 250 million from different coasts are about to face the scorching heat of the US heatwave.

While Europe is already experiencing one of the hottest heatwaves on record, most parts of the US are likely to experience the same expanding from the South and West up to the East Coast.

Ranging from above-average heat, this will be the hottest week of the summer, according to FOX Forecast Center. Compared to the last two months, this week will have a higher temperature.

This scorching heat is caused by a change in the upper air pattern that will put the East Coast into an alarming heat index and humidity later this week.

Wednesday will be the hottest for this week. An estimated 255 million Americans will feel above-normal heat. From these numbers, 232 million (75%) will experience higher temperatures at a minimum of 5 degrees above normal.

By Thursday, temperatures in the 90s will expand from the Southwest to the southern Plains, Southeast, Midwest, Northeast, and mid-Atlantic. The FOX Forecast Center doesn’t see any chance of a temperature drop as the summer heat persists.

On a positive note, the Bay Area will experience cooler weather due to the low-pressure system pushing cold fronts in Northern California by Wednesday.

Heat warnings due to blistering temperatures

Millions of US residents from Florida to the West Coast are placed under Heat Advisories or Excessive Heat Warnings as temperatures rise, as confirmed by New York Post.

These US heatwave alerts are more prevalent in the Plains and Southwest areas. Moreover, the Sunshine State has been under a heat warning for over 20 days.

FOX Weather meteorologist Jason Frazer said that it’s important to note that Florida really gets hot. However, he also stated, “It’s just that we’ve been historically seeing temperatures anywhere between 10 to about 15 degrees above where they should be for this time of year.”

These heat alerts can expand as the heat continues throughout the US. While temperatures rise, taking the proper safety measures to avoid heatstroke is crucial.

These extreme temperatures are no joke; they already claimed lives this summer. Two people died inside Death Valley National Park in California.

Last week, a 10-month-old baby was left alone inside the car without air conditioning and died. Since June, some people also died in Texas due to extreme heat.

This week’s US heatwave forecast

Wednesday is expected to be the hottest day of the week for Americans, as FOX ForecAst Center confirmed. Temperatures will be around 90s to 100 degrees in the Plains, Great Lakes region, Midwest, mid-Atlantic, and Southeast.

The hot weather will continue until Thursday. New York City will feel a high temperature of 91 degrees, while Detroit will have a temperature in the low 90s. The humidity may have also arrived on this day, making the temperature feel hotter and closer to 100 degrees.
