Fil-Am teen golf sensation Kiara Romero beats rival for US Girls’ Junior Title
In the midst of the lush greens of Eisenhower Golf Club in Colorado Springs, Colorado, a 17-year-old Fil-Am girl unleashed her stroke and etched her name in golfing history.
Meet Kiara Romero, the young golf sensation from sunny San Jose, California. She just dominated the golf scene with her victory at the US Girls’ Junior Golf Championship.
It was a heart-stopping second for the audience when Romero went for the 18th hole. She won on that single putt. It was a shot that could’ve turned the tables.
Rewind to that momentous afternoon of the 36-hole final. The Fil-Am golfer’s talent was tried against a Filipino golfer, Rianne Malixi. Romero displayed grace and precision as she managed to do just one birdie while defying her chances with just one bogey.

Malixi from the Philippines won the first hole and kept her lead up to the 22nd when she had a bogey. She was also exceptional on par 3s all week, but a bogey on the par-3 13th, the 31st hole, gave Romero a 1-up lead, as confirmed by Golfweek.
Both did well with every stroke aiming for the win. As she reflected on her success, Romero said, “I don’t think it has really sunk in yet. I kept coming up a little short, but I continued to grind, and I’m glad to get it done this time.”
