Fil-Canadian Dancer Choreographed Dance Segment in ‘Joy Ride’

Get ready to be swept away by the energetic dance moves and infectious energy of Fil-Canadian choreographer Joe Tuliao. He took center stage at a recent sold-out special screening of the film “Joy Ride.”

The Vancouver Asian Film Festival and Cold Tea Collective hosted the screening where Tuliao’s exceptional talents came to life. This Fil-Canadian dance prodigy was strutting his way into the hearts of the audiences and leaving an unforgettable trail.

A master of expression and dance moves, Tuliao has been gracing the film industry in Vancouver, Canada, for eight years. His unrelenting passion and commitment caught the attention of the talented director Adele Lim.

Lim chose Tuliao to weave his dance moves in “Joy Ride.” When the Filipino Canadian choreographer received a call from his agent confirming the good news, he couldn’t contain his excitement.

He said, “I had a whole week of just wondering if I got it or not, and just end the self-doubt, but then I got that phone call from the agent saying that I got the job.”

From Small Screen to Silver Screen

While “Joy Ride” is Tuliao’s first step into Hollywood, he is not a stranger to the spotlight. This talented choreographer has already shown his talent on popular shows like Disney’s Mech-X-4 and RuPaul’s Secret Celebrity Drag Race.

In addition, Tuliao has also shown his creative moves in commercials for Nike and Bell Media. His success is not just a personal victory; he hopes his opportunity will open doors for other talented artists in Canada.

If something’s telling you, your heart, that you’re meant to do something big in this world, trust it and go with it.”

Dancing with the Stars

The Fil-Canadian found himself working together with a stellar of talents while choreographing for “Joy Ride.” Working with actresses Stephanie Hsu, Ashley Park, Sabrina Wu, and Sherry Cola, he masterfully weaved his dance movements into their performances.

“Joy Ride” is a story about a group of friends, Lolo (Sherry Cola), Audrey (Ashley Park), Kat (Stephanie Hsu), and Deadeye (Sabrina Wu), who travel in Asia searching for one of their birth mothers. This upbeat movie is also a story of identity, friendship, and the importance of connection to others.

Tuliao also expressed joy at the growing Asian presence in Hollywood. This young man already recognizes the significance of diversity on the big screen.
