Expert Insights on Sharks
Well-known ocean biologist Bob Heuter noted the significance of understanding shark behaviors and taking safety measures during peak periods.
Heuter suggests, “One must avoid swimming in the ocean before dawn and after dusk from May to September. This is the time when sharks become more active. They actually feed more commonly, generally, during these twilight hours of both dawn and dusk. And why is that? Because they have sort of the advantage on their prey.”
As shark encounters recently made the headlines, it is vital for beachgoers to be aware of their surroundings and seek expert advice.
The incidents at Navarre and Perdido beaches in Florida serve as reminders to be cautious on the beaches. By adhering to safety measures, understanding shark behaviors, and staying updated, we can reduce the risks of these potentially dangerous species.
