Hawaii branch to be latest link in PH chain Potato Corner’s US expansion
Jollibee is not the only Philippines-based fast-food chain that is expanding in America. Potato Corner, which claims to have some of “the best flavored French Fries in the world,” which already has franchises in ten US cities, will open a branch in Waipahu, Hawaii.
Potato Corner started in the Philippines in 1992 and expanded to the US in 2010 with a first location in California. Its first restaurant in Hawaii will open at the Waipahu Town Center, in Oahu along Farrington Highway. The center is anchored by the Seafood City Supermarket and Longs Drugs. It has grown with more than 1,000 locations in 11 countries.

Potato Corner’s claim to fame is its patented seasonings including BBQ, Chili BBQ, Sour Cream & Onion and Cheddar Cheese.
Potato Corner, which started as a stall in SM Megamall in the Philippines, was by Jose Magsaysay Jr., Ricky Montelibano, Danny Bermejo and George Wieneke. Its registered owner is Shakey’s Pizza Asia Ventures Inc. (SPAVI).
