Manitoba Filipino Street Festival returns opening-day parade
Manitoba’s annual Filipino Street Festival in Winnipeg is taking place this weekend, June 24-25, and returning its opening-day parade, which had been on hold since 2019 due to the pandemic.
“Balik Kalye” (Back on the Street) is this year’s theme, with the parade starting at 11 a.m. Saturday, from the Watson Street and Jefferson Avenue assembly point to the Maples Multiplex at 434 Adsum Drive, Winnipeg.

Street food will be available, including hard-to-find barbecued chicken feet, chicken intestines, and even the famous balut. “We started in the back of a mall in Garden City,” Navarro said. “We only had a handful of sponsors.”
