Book on history of Filipinos in Canada 1950-2022 launched
VANCOUVER, B.C. – Indomitable Canadian Filipinos, the first book that tells the contemporary history of Filipinos in Canada from 1950 to 2022, was launched June 7 to mark Filipino Migrant Worker’s Day and Filipino Heritage Month in Canada.
The book edited by Eleanor R. Laquian recounts immigration stories of individuals and families, highlighting their achievements, issues, struggles, needs, hopes and dreams.
Academicians, researchers, journalists and essayists provided the in-depth theorizing and analyzes of the 70-year history of Filipino immigration to Canada.
The book launch was hosted by the Philippine Consulate General in Vancouver, in partnership with MWO-Vancouver and OWWA-Vancouver.
Consul General Arlene T. Magno said that the book is a testament to the resilience, strength, and perseverance of Filipino migrants in Canada.

Atty. Melissa Briones of Northam Law, delivering the keynote remarks on behalf of Laquian, recognized several members of the audience whose stories are featured in the book.
Kimwell Del Rosario, a concertmaster of the Vancouver Academy Senior Strings Orchestra in 2001, provided the entertainment during the event.
