Canadian expat murders Filipino wife, kills self in PH
A Canadian national murdered his wife then killed himself by slitting his wrist and stabbing himself in the chest inside their home in Bacolod City, Philippines on Friday morning, March 12.
The homicide victim Leizel Demerin-St. Jean, 47, a call center agent who lived with her attacker-husband and their children at Villa Mikaela Barangay near Bacolod’s Singcang Airport.

Demerin’s husband, Canadian expatriate Ronald St. Jean, 65, committed suicide but was still alive and able to struggle with police before he succumbed at the hospital.
Neighbors said they heard the couple loudly arguing, until they heard cries for help. The couple’s young children and their cousin were able to flee and kept by neighbors for safety.
Police believed the argument that turned deadly were about financial problems.
Local officials and the tried to negotiate with Ronald St. Jean, but he attacked the with pepper. He was apprehended after he slipped from a pool of blood. He was rushed to the regional hospital but was declared dead on arrival.
