Manhattan, the city that never sleeps, is about to dazzle brighter. To honor New York City’s status as a “beacon of freedom and hope,” an impressive illumination will be witnessed by New Yorkers.

The upcoming “Field of Light” promises to bring another feather to Manhattan’s prominent stature. Bruce Monro, an English-Australian artist, will launch his public art on Manhattan’s East Side.

The light will open in the Fall of this year and will light up the city for a year. Monro’s mesmerizing installation will shine throughout over 6 acres of the Freedom Plaza.

Monro is an artist famous for his global light exhibits. He illuminated the Sharjah Museum of Art in the UAE, Victoria &Albert Museums in London, and the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in New York. He aims to stimulate the viewers using light to paint Eden at the Freedom Plaza.

Where is the ‘Field of Light’ art installation located?

The artist plans to install them in a space in Manhattan near the United Nations Headquarters. It will expand from 38th to 41st Street on First Avenue.

This awe-inspiring project aims to honor New York City as an international symbol of home and freedom worldwide. The “Field of Light” will feature a stunning collection of 17,000 low-light and fiber-optic stemmed discs.

Solar power will run these spheres as they illuminate in a kaleidoscope of color. It will create a visually impressive landscape that will look like a real painting.

Stefan Soloviev, Chairman of Soloviev Group – the development corporation behind Freedom Plaza- said, “Bruce shares an aligned commitment to using sustainable and innovative technologies to spark imagination and push the bounds of creativity. We are thrilled to work with him on this significant project.”

“Field of Light” is part of the developments planned for the Freedom Plaza. Reports said the location would display art from global artists and historical artifacts.

These relics will include Berlin Wall pieces and vast, immersive installations. Furthermore, Freedom Plaza will also showcase diverse restaurants, pedestrian-friendly walkways, gaming facilities, shopping stores, and a hotel.

Manhattan public officials haven’t announced the final details about public access to the “Field of Light.” But the anticipation of the coming exhibit is evident.

As Manhattan gets ready to light up as a special tribute to freedom, visitors and residents await the chance to experience this stunning illumination.
