TripAdvisor has released its new list of the top 10 United States destinations this summer, based on destinations that have seen the greatest increase in seasonal hotel bookings.
Topping the list is Michigan’s Mackinac Island, described as an “old-timey seaside” island with candy-colored facades.
At an average nightly summer rate of $347, it’s not the cheapest destination to visit this year. According to TripAdvisor’s number crunching, the least expensive week is June 4.
A scan of the top 10 U.S. destinations suggests that American travelers are seeking a respite from city life, as many of the top spots are quaint, charming waterfront destinations, far from urban jungles.
According to a survey of 3,300 U.S. travelers, the Northeast is poised to be the most popular region for domestic holiday-makers this summer.
