The 12th Chesapeake Bataan Death March Memorial Walk in Chesapeake, Virginia, will be held April 8 to honor and remember all those who endured one of the most harrowing events in U.S. and Filipino history.

The Walk aims to educate Americans today on the sacrifices of “the greatest generation.” WEBSITE All donations will support the VFW Post 2894’s ongoing mission to serve veterans. There will be military displays, food sales and lots of family friendly activities.

Onsite Events, April 8:
16.6 mile walk 7:00 a.m. start
5 mile walk 10:00 a.m.
1 mile family walk 11:00 a.m.
Closing Ceremony 12:00 p.m.
Registration starts at 6:00 a.m. (Walk-on registrations are welcome)

Virtual Events: 16.6 mile, 5 mile, and 1 mile walk, run, bike, swim and “roll any way you want,” anytime, anywhere from Virtual: February 15, 2023 to April 8, 2023. Participants will have all that time to complete the mileage they registered for (1, 5 or 16 miles).

The run/march is on the honor system. It is open to all ages, families, sports teams, athletic and social clubs, JROTC, ROTC, Military and First Responders.

Donations: $30 for adults 16 and over, $65 for families of four with children (two adults and two children under 16) or registration for individual children under 16 is $20. Register for the 1 or 5 mile run/walk and receive a T-shirt, register for the 16 mile run/walk and participants will receive a T-shirt and a commemorative medal.
