Sneak Peek of ‘Joker 2’ Film Features Lady Gaga

Todd Philips is directing the sequel to Joker, 2019’s sleeper hit that became the highest-grossing R-rated film in history. He recently shared a sneak peek of work in progress.

Philips shared a photo on the 14th of February, featuring Lady Gaga staring into the eyes of the seemingly enamored Joaquin Phoenix.

The image had a simple caption: “Happy Valentine’s Day.” Also, the famous pop singer tweeted the same picture with the words, “Folie à Deux.”

We do not have any details regarding the plot of the next Joker film. However, we know its exact title: “Joker: Folie à Deux.”

According to dictionary.com, Folie à Deux is “the sharing of delusional ideas by two people who are closely associated.”

Also, vocabulary.com says it means “madness for two” or “shared madness” when translated from French to English.

That fits the relationship between Harley Quinn and Joker. According to DC Comics lore, the former was a psychiatrist who worked on the villain as her subject. 

Her initial name was Harleen Frances Quinzel before she became obsessed with Joker. Eventually, she became her sidekick and took on the name Harley Quinn.

Lady Gaga would probably play a similar role in Joker 2, but we do not know how it would follow the prequel.

The first film starred Joaquin Phoenix as Arthur Fleck, an aspiring stand-up and clown. The character develops mental health issues after suffering numerous rejections.

Eventually, Fleck takes on the Joker persona and becomes a folk hero.  The 2019 flick earned more than a billion dollars worldwide. 

Also, it earned 12 Oscar nominations for the best-adapted screenplay, best picture, and best director. 

Perhaps the sequel would explore how the denizens of Gotham City may embrace his villainy. 

Moreover, Joker 2 would play in theaters as director James Gunn tries to reboot the DC film universe. 

It would release films like the planned Superman film that may feature Dave Bautista as the villain Lex Luthor. 

Also, DC Studios will have Elseworlds movies that cover alternative universe stories, which includes “Joker: Folie à Deux.” 

At the time of writing, those are all the available details about Joker 2. All we can do is wait for October 24, 2024, and see it ourselves!
