Rihanna Inspires New Wax Figure Ahead of Super Bowl Performance

/ 07:30 AM February 10, 2023

Rihanna is already making waves ahead of her upcoming Super Bowl performance. Following the release of her Apple Music Halftime video, she now gets a new met-gala-themed wax figure.

Last year, the pop singer agreed to headline Super Bowl 2023. This much-anticipated performance marks her first comeback onstage after a 7-year hiatus following the release of the new Black Panther’s OST. Her last performance was on the release of her last album “Anti” in 2016.

On Tuesday, Madame Tussauds confirmed that Rihanna is getting her new wax figure at New York City Museum. Madame Tussauds is a world-renowned tourist attraction that showcases the waxworks of famous figures worldwide.

Rihanna’s lifelike wax statue is based on her exemplary style from “Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination” at the 2018 Met Gala. She strutted the red carpet back then wearing a Margiela outfit.

The Fenty owner was a co-chair in the 2018 Met Gala along with Donatella Versace, Anna Wintour, and Amal Clooney. Riri stunned the audiences at the Metropolitan Museum of Art wearing a corset minidress adorned with beads.

On Wednesday, the iconic singer’s latest wax statue will debut in the Glow Gala Room of Madame Tussauds New York Times Square. The neon-themed rooms will accentuate the hidden LED lights of the statue’s outfit.

Joerg Hanel, Madame Tussauds New York general manager said, “Rihanna is sure to make history with her upcoming live show this Sunday so the timing is perfect for us to reveal her new figure exclusively at Madame Tussauds New York where fans can admire and pose with the icon.”

Madame Tussauds’ announcement came days prior to the pop star’s halftime show performance at Super Bowl LVII. It also came in time after Apple released her official halftime video which puts Twitter in buzz.

Rihanna’s wax figure

According to a Billboard report, the museum plans to release another Riri wax figure at the Madame Tussauds Orlando later this year. The statue will don the outfit she’ll wear at Super Bowl.

Meanwhile, fans are eagerly awaiting Riri’s halftime performance. It will be a 13-minute performance that will feature surprise guests. She described it as “physically demanding.”

Rihanna said at the Super Bowl press conference, “Sunday, now that’s the one. I’ve been so focused on the Super Bowl I totally forgot that my birthday’s coming up. I totally forgot about Valentine’s Day.”

Riri finds it challenging since she hasn’t been onstage for a while. She explained that the set involves a lot of moving variations.

She said, “The physical challenge has definitely been immense for many reasons, of course. I haven’t done this in a minute. You’re just running around for 13 minutes, trying to put a 2-hour set in 13 minutes, and you’re gonna see on Sunday,”
