/ 09:05 AM February 08, 2023

In celebration of the 20th anniversary of their second album Meteora, Linkin Park will release a never-before-heard song featuring the vocals of the late Chester Bennington.

Chester Bennington took his own life at 41 years old on July 20, 2017. Linkin Park has been on hiatus since then. They also held a tribute concert, Linkin Park and Friends: Celebrate Life in Honor of Chester Bennington in Oct.2017.

Linkin Park teased the new track, “Lost” through a series of messages on their social media accounts. The upcoming song will honor their 2003 album Meteora. “Lost” will be released on Friday.

On Monday, the band shared a teaser clip that hinted at the huge announcement. The video was released on their social media platforms.

It showed a man wearing a gas mask spray while covering the camera black while the words “New Linkin Park Music” pop on the screen.

In addition, the rock band also wrote on Twitter, ‘Lost,’ a new, never-before-heard song from the Meteora archives.”

They also featured a snippet of the song featuring Bennington’s voice while he sings “‘Cause when I’m alone, I’m lost in these memories, living behind my illusion.”

Linkin Park had shared a countdown on their website before. Then puzzles replaced it where fans could search for clues of what will come next.

The rock band also dropped a clue on Instagram, “What’s this?” The band’s co-founder Mike Shinoda shared about a possible Linkin Park reunion in April 2022 via Twitch stream.

He said on their band’s fan page, “The only Linkin Park news I have for you is that… Yeah, we talk every few weeks — I talk to the guys or some of the guys.”

Shinoda continued, “And there are no tours, there’s no music, there are no albums in the pipeline. Okay, so let me just tell you that. So just keep in your minds that that is not happening.”

He also added on the clip, “I’m just gonna say that much for now. I say that because anytime the band says anything or does anything, everyone tries to start up the hype train, and we’re like, ‘No, no, no, no. Don’t start up the hype train.’ You’re gonna disappoint yourself. Don’t do that.”

Linkin Park was also well-known for recalling their old songs. According to Rolling Stone, in 2020, the band re-issued their first album Hybrid Theory including unreleased songs.

Moreover, they released a deluxe version of Minutes to Midnight last year. While there are no confirmations that the rock group is reuniting anytime soon, they shared on Instagram that they “begin sharing a little more” frequently with fans.
