‘Stranger Things’ Actor Noah Schnapp Comes Out as Gay
“Stranger Things” star Noah Schnapp revealed that he’s gay via TikTok. The actor posted his video on Thursday while lip-syncing to a viral song. He announced his sexuality and his family’s reaction to the news.
Schnapp plays the role of Will Byers on Netflix’s hit fiction “Stranger Things.” In the last two episodes of the fourth season, the series revealed that Will is gay. In addition, he is in love with his best friend, Mike. The plot seems appropriate to his recent revelation.
The 18-year-old actor wrote in his caption for the TikTok video. “I guess I’m more similar to Will than I thought.”

Schnapp also wrote, “When I finally told my friends and family I was gay after being scared in the closet for 18 years, and all they said was ‘we know.’” He is also lip-dubbing to an audio clip of another TikTok user saying, “You know what it never was? That serious. It was never that serious. Quite frankly, will never be that serious.”
After his revelation, congratulatory messages poured on his comment section. TikToker Chris Olsen said, “Welcome, king.” One TikTok user also joked, “He said method acting.” Another user also said, “I’m so proud of you!”

Does Mike like Will
Moreover, the actor referenced his character as Will Byers. “It was always kind of there, but you never really knew. Is it just him growing up slower than his friends? Now that he’s gotten older, they made it a very real, obvious thing. Now it’s 100% clear that he is gay, and he does love Mike.”
Since the first episode of “Stranger Things, Will’s sexuality had been in question. However, Schnapp always averted whenever questions came up about the character. He safely noted that Will’s character was still “up to the audience’s participation.”
In a Variety interview, Schnapp said that he wasn’t certain what the directors Ross and Matt had in store for Will’s character. Once he did have the idea, he never spoiled the show’s process of revealing Will’s journey in the last season.

Schnapp added, “I think it is done so beautifully because it’s so easy to make a character just like all of a sudden be gay. People have come up to me — I was just in Paris, and this, like, a 40-year-old man came up to me, and he was like, ‘Wow, this Will character made me feel so good. And I related to it so much. That is exactly who I was when I was a kid.’ That just made me so happy to hear. They are writing this real character and this real journey and real struggle, and they’re doing it so well.”
Noah Schnapp as Will Byers
The actor has grappled with the attention his character Will has received from fans worldwide regarding his sexuality. When Variety asked Noah how he navigated this situation while also figuring himself out, Noah commented on Will’s challenging points in the series.
He said, “I think it’s all just part of the challenge of acting. This isn’t just a single layer thing of he’s struggling with coming out. It’s this multifaceted trauma that goes years back, because he was taken by the Demogorgon and then his friends, they never acknowledged him, and now he’s scared to come out and doesn’t know if they’ll accept him.”
Netflix and the Duffers sent fans into a frenzy with their announcement that the fifth season of “Stranger Things” will be its last. Noah Schnapp, who portrays Will Byers on the show, is among those anticipating what’s to come for the series finale.
Although there’s no confirmation when production of this highly-anticipated season will begin or when it will air, viewers everywhere eagerly anticipate all the shocking twists.
