Tate’s arrest and the speculation that it might be the result of a video he posted to Twitter has sparked controversy. Tate had mocked Nobel Peace Prize winner Greta Thunberg in his replies.

Romania’s Directorate for Investigating Organized Crime and Terrorism took swift action when they learned that Andrew and David Tate were back in the country. For nine months, the police officials were waiting for them to return to Romania. Sources close to the investigation confirmed to Gândul that the brothers were present.

Upon learning through social media posts, the officers mobilized their forces and immediately went to the villa. Alejandra Caraballo, a civil rights attorney tweeted. “Romanian authorities needed proof that Andrew Tate was in the country so they reportedly used his social media posts.”

The female lawyer also shared a screenshot of Tate’s viral video from the day before. “His ridiculous video yesterday featured a pizza from a Romanian pizza chain, Jerry’s Pizza, confirming he was in the country.”

Andrew Tate Response Video

Following the heated exchange of tweets between Tate and Thunberg, he replied with a video. In the clip, Tate was smoking while wearing a robe. Someone handed him a bunch of pizza boxes. He joked about refusing to recycle the pizza boxes to mock Thunberg.

In doing such a move, Tate accidentally tipped off his current whereabouts. Since April, the Romanian officers were closely watching the Tate brothers. The two were already under criminal investigation. Moreover, they were already detainees before with two other Romanian suspects.

Andrew Tate, a former kickboxer and self-taught online entrepreneur, had gained a solid following of mostly men on various social media platforms over the years. Unfortunately, it was his contentious views that prompted social media sites to ban him and delete his accounts.

Amongst his misogynistic positions was the assertion that women should “shut the f**k up.”He also said that women should just be at home raising and caring for children and ultimately remain quiet and make coffee.
