HONOLULU – A Filipino man in Hawaii must spend life in prison without the possibility of parole for the 2021 road rage killing of a teenager in a neighborhood in Honolulu, a judge ruled Wednesday, Nov. 16.
Eddieson Reyes, 38, was found guilty last May of second degree murder and other charges for fatally shooting Triston Billlimon, 19, in a road rage incident near a freeway off-ramp to Kalihi, Honolulu.
Prosecutors said Reyes shot Billimon to death after forcing the latter’s car to a stop.
Although a life sentence for a second degree murder conviction usually comes with the possibility of parole, Reyes was meted a life sentence without parole as a persistent offender.
At the time of the June 18, 2021 shooting, Reyes was on parole for a prior assault and reckless endangerment with a firearm case.
