Clorox recalls 37 million scented Pine-sol, fearing bacteria contamination

/ 09:04 AM October 26, 2022

Clorox recalled nearly 37 million bottles of scented Pine-Sol cleaning products due to a harmful bacteria that can cause severe effects on individuals with weak immune systems. On Tuesday, Clorox started its voluntary recall.

The cleaning-agent company confirmed some of their products could contain the bacteria Pseudomonas aeruginosa. It is a type of bacteria that could cause harm to people with existing immune system problems. In addition, this bacteria can also affect those with external medical accessories. The Consumer Product Safety Commission can pose “a risk of serious infection that may require medical treatment.”

The CDC also noted that the bacteria could cause severe infections in the lungs, blood, and other body parts. Pseudomonas aeruginosa usually is around the environment, particularly in the soil and water. The bacteria can enter the body through the eyes, open wounds, or breathing. Furthermore, the Consumer Product Safety Commission noted that people with healthy immunity are normally unaffected.
