Disney releases illustrated chicken adobo recipe in honor of Filipino American History Month
Disney released an illustrated recipe of chicken adobo, the Filipino National Dish on Friday, Oct. 21, in celebration of Filipino American History Month.
The illustration, created by Filipina artist Bianca Austria, was posted on Disney’s official Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter as a way to commemorate Filipino Americans and Filipino American culture.
The caption on the posts read, “Mickey and friends are here to share a special chicken adobo recipe! #FilipinoAmericanHistoryMonth.”

In her own Instagram post, Bianca Austria wrote that the project had “been in the works for a few weeks now” and expressed her excitement for having “the honor of working with @disney to bring to life an illustrated chicken adobo recipe!”

Filipino American History Month
Filipino American History month, celebrated in October in the United States, first became federally recognized in 2009. The holiday “commemorates the first recorded presence of Filipinos in the continental United States” in 1587, according to the Filipino American National Historical Society.
