Queen releases unheard song featuring Freddie Mercury
Queen unveiled a rediscovered and unheard song featuring the late Mercury on Thursday. It is the band’s first new single after more than eight years.
The lost track, ‘Face It Alone’ is a powerful ballad that the Queen’s members had already hinted at. Drummer Roger Taylor and guitarist Brian May had recorded the song with legendary Freddie Mercury. The band recorded the song for their 1989 ‘The Miracle’ album, but the song didn’t appear in the album release.
During an interview, last summer, May And Taylor first revealed to the fans the track ‘Face It Alone.’ Taylor said in a press release, “We’d kind of forgotten about this track, but there it was this little gem. “It’s wonderful, a real discovery. It’s a very passionate piece.”

Taylor added, “We did find a little gem from Freddie that we’d kind of forgotten about. And it’s wonderful. Actually, it was a real discovery.” He also detailed the song, “It was kind of hiding in plain sight. We looked at it many times and thought, ‘Oh no, we can’t really rescue that.'”

May also release a statement about the unheard track. He also confirmed that former Queen band member John Deacon worked on the song. He said, “I’m happy that our team was able to find this track. After all these years, it’s great to hear all four of us … yes, Deacy is there too … working in the studio on a great song idea which never quite got completed … until now!”

‘The Miracle’ was Queen’s 13th studio album. They released it two years before Mercury died in 1991 due to AIDS-related health conditions. The band will release an eight-disc collector’s edition box set for the upcoming album reissue. It will feature six unpublished songs, including a conversation between the band while they were in the studio.
This move wasn’t new to the band. Queen has released recordings featuring Mercury before. Their most recent was on the 2014 album ‘Queen Forever.’ The album set includes three unheard songs too. These songs are “Love Kills,” “Let Me in Your Heart Again,” and “There Must Be More to Life Than This,” featuring Michael Jackson.
