“At Home/On Stage: Asian American Representation in Photography and Film,”  which features the works of the late Filipino American photographer Ricardo Alvarado, is among the inaugural exhibits of Asian American Art Initiative at the Cantor Arts Center of Stanford University.

In the 1940s and 1950s, Alvarado documented social events and other scenes of daily life of Filipinos in San Francisco. A good number of Alvarado’s 3,000 photographs have been featured in exhibitions across the U.S., including the Smithsonian Institution’s National Museum of American History.

“At Home/On Stage: Asian American Representation in Photography and Film” will run at the Cantor Arts Center through Jan. 15, 2023.
