Suspect arrested in murder of missing Fil-Am nursing student
Police in Fayetteville, Arkansas arrested a suspect in the murder of the still missing 28-year-old Filipino American nursing student Allison Marie Castro.
Suspect Kacey Jennings, 29, is facing charges of capital murder and abuse of a corpse. Castro had been reported missing by her family. Jennings will be arraigned Oct. 19 in Washington County Circuit Court.
Officers responded to a call from a home Sept. 19 where Jennings was apparently experiencing a drug overdose. He was arrested upon his release from a medical facility, according to a KNWA/KFTA report.
Police said they found documents indicating that Jennings possibly killed Castro and disposed of her body. Castro’s family reported that she was in a relationship with Jennings and they had lived together.
The Arkansas Democrat Gazette, meanwhile, reported that Jennings had filed for and was briefly granted a temporary protection order against Castro on June 8.
He claimed that Castro was violently attacking him. He said they had broken up in May but were still living together and claimed that he was still supporting her financially.
A circuit judge granted a restraining order on Castro but Jennings, on June 10, petitioned to dismiss the order, saying Castro was leaving the state, and he was no longer in fear of domestic violence from her.
The search for Castro’s body continued, with the Benton County Dive Team and Fayetteville police looking in an area of Beaver Lake.
Anyone with any additional information concerning the investigation should contact Fayetteville police at 479-587-3555.
