Filipino Community of Seattle ‘Palengke’ to kick off Fil-Am History Month
SEATTLE – Some 30 food and retail vendors will kick off Filipino American History Month through music, food, arts and crafts, dance and entertainment at “The Palengke at FCS” on Sept. 30 and Oct. 1 at the historic Filipino Community of Seattle, 5740 Martin Luther King Jr Way S, Seattle, Washington.
Opening night will present an arts and entertainment program curated by Filipino American director and choreographer Bennyroyce Royon, along with a night market with select vendors.
The next day will be a palengke, an indoor and outdoor market at the Filipino Community Center and the Jim & Elma Kern and Velma Veloria Plaza.
Organizers hope that Palengke will be an annual event at the Filipino Community of Seattle. The event is a collaboration between Palengke National, and the FCS Small Business Resiliency Network (SBRN).
